Army star superimposed on an Imperial mum crest. Also in
the design is a plane, spotlight, and a rifle. Below are gilt
branches and bow.

with the first kanji in 'Abeno.'

inscribed on the suspension device: 'Participation Badge' and on the reverse:
'Showa 11 [1936] Affiliated Maneuvers, Takinogawa District Defense Unit,
Nishigahara Branch Unit.' Takinogawa is in the north area of Tokyo.
The badge has an airplane emitting billowing smoke and in the center is
anti-aircraft artillery. It is inscribed on the obverse: 'Air Defense Commemorative'
and on the reverse: 'Showa 10 [1935] Participation Badge, Suginami District
Defense Unit, 8th Branch Unit.' Suginami is in the central area of Tokyo.

There is some sort of emblem in the top left corner; I cannot identify it. . The
kanji read 'Kannan,' which is an area in Osaka City. It is inscribed on the
reverse: 'Kannan Defense Unit. Air Defense Maneuvers Participation Badge.
2598. [1938].'
2 kanji upon the wings read 'Air Defense.' It is inscribed below: 'Showa 10
[1935]. Maneuvers Commemorative. Shiba Ward. 1st Branch Unit.'
